A Very Merry Unbirthday!
I love the first day of anything. New Year's Day, the first day of school, the first day of summer, a new job, soccer season, football season...you get the picture. It's the start of something new, to begin again fresh and new, to try again to do better whatever it is the beginning of. I just love it! (Do I sound ridiculously optimistic enough yet? I'm trying to be less pessimistic.)
I do love that we are beginning a new month, but I can't stand what this month represents. Valentine's Day. Patrick already knows that I do not celebrate this hugest-of-all-marketing-ploys day called Valentine's Day. I feel as the Mad Hatter and the March Hare do about Unbirthday days; there are 364 Un-Valentine's Day days to show how much you love and care about a person. Buy me the roses the day after and save yourself a ton of $$. Better yet, save your money and buy me the roses for our anniversary, my birthday, Mother's Day, or just because. I prefer a rose bush that can be planted in the ground therefore yielding more UnValentine's Day roses for years to come. So, unlike the saying, "It's okay to wish me a 'Merry Christmas'", it is not okay to wish me a Happy Valentine's Day. So not a day worth celebrating. In my book, everyday is Valentine's Day and an opportunity to show your loved ones how much they mean to you. So...Have a Very Merry Unbirthday!
